Swimming in Murau: the municipal indoor pool and summer natural pool

Choose the correct pool, public session and seasonal option before packing swimwear.

Use the correct address

For an indoor swim, look for Hallenbad Murau at Bundesstraße 13. The visitor information comes from Murauer Bäder & Freizeit, the municipal pool operation. This matters when searching maps or calling for details: the pool should not be described as a swimming pool inside JUFA Hotel Murau. Use the pool operator’s own information for admission.

Indoor swimming and children

The hall has a sports pool and children’s water facilities. Decide whether the family mainly wants swimming practice or relaxed play before choosing a session. Read the slide instructions on arrival and agree who accompanies each child. A children’s pool still requires supervision; its name does not imply that every child can stand comfortably everywhere.

Plan around public sessions

Public swimming has a published timetable, with school swimming shown separately. The operator’s 2026 information lists Monday as the closure day. Check the current timetable for the actual holiday date, including special closures or revisions. Do not assume that a school-swimming period is available to ordinary visitors simply because the building is open.

Give the swim a simple focus

Choose one small aim for the afternoon: a few comfortable lengths, practising a familiar stroke together or simply enjoying time in the water. Leave room for play after any practice. If adults want uninterrupted swimming too, take turns rather than expecting children to follow the same pace. The best session is one everyone wants to repeat.

A different summer option

In summer, Naturfreibad Murau at Badsiedlungs Weg 2 offers a separate outdoor choice. The operator describes a natural bathing lake, lawns and a paddling area. Its season and daily operation depend on weather. Choose it for a warm outdoor afternoon, not as an interchangeable year-round alternative whenever the indoor timetable does not fit.

A workable swimming afternoon

Pack swimwear, towels, a change of clothes and a bag for wet things. Confirm opening before promising children a swim, leave changing time before closing and keep the rest of the day simple. A short town visit and one swimming session can work better than combining several water venues. Keep the operator’s contact page available for last-minute questions.
